In for a penny, in for a pound

// No Comments

as you know, loyal reader ( :) ) i hate to blog.  But i’ve realized as all this stuff is happening around me, that i really need to.  Not for business, not for SEO optimization bullshit, but for me.  I thought in the beginning it would be a business blog, and it still is.  But what i realized yesterday is that what makes me “cool” is the shit that goes on in my head.  Normally, i would journal about it, but i think i’ve decided to use this blog as my business journal instead.

I warn you all now, if i commit to doing this, you will be inundadated with bizarre drivel, poor grammar and basic ramblings.  Deal with it….or, if i were you, i’d click the “unsubscribe”…i promise, i wont be offended…its what i’d want to do too :)

So, i guess to fill in, you should know that i started yet another business.  I didnt mean to, but in much the same way i went from one antique store to one antique store, one oriental rug gallery, and one womens boxing gym….some opportunities are too obvious to pass up.

Romantic Travel Association of Belize, RTAB, is my latest adventure.   Truth be told, the reason for it wasnt so much that i wanted to open another business, as i needed to solve a marketing problem.  Namely:  I need a TON of marketing to get LCB where it needs to be, and i have ZERO dollars.   So, whats a girl to do?

well, if that girl is me, that girl goes to the people who are doing it very well.  I’ve havent done a whole lot down here for 4 years, but what i have done is WATCHED.  watched HOW people do business.  I people watched, and so, when i realized that one thing i do VERY VERY WELL is get press.  I dont know what it is, but i can somehow get press.

And i realized one other key component.  I needed to focus on one particular market.  WHO is my easiest customer to reach?  When you live in a destination wedding honeymoon paradise, when the person you care for more than anyone else in the world owns the largest bridal shop in eastern canada, when you know the owners of nearly every business on the island, what do you do?  You NOTICE that Brides abound!!!  (also, i have to note this entire LCB thing is brought to you by the letter “B”….bikini, belize, beach, brides, baubles, boxes, bags, bathing suit, belief and believing….)

So, i got to looking on the internet, and how do i get to brides and general research into the how to market to brides on the internet and blah blah blah…and i realized that the Romantic Travel industry is HUGE!!!!!!  The brick and mortar businesses need to be focused on their daily operations.  I’m in building mode, so i’ll take the time, they pay the tab, i get the brides, we all get the cash.

a rising tide raises all boats :)

so thats where we are.   you are caught up.  But what prompted this blog is something else.  Its actually an admission of how hard it it.  not getting anything going, thats normal business stress.  but as my friend alana pointed out, i’m also completely entrenched in love and romance and marriage…and it makes me lonely :(   so that sorta sucks.  but, like most things, the realization of whats bothering you helps to resolve it.  So, there ya have it.
